Position: Technical Writer (12 month contract)
Department: Marketing
Location: Mankato, MN
Status: Contract
Job Summary: Writes and edits technical reports, brochures, and/or manuals for internal documentation, customer reference, or publication. Researches and analyzes available literature and verifies copy with appropriate departments. Coordinates production and distribution of materials; assists in the design and development of marketing materials; and assists in the administration and support of documentation software.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Create, edit, and maintain technical documentation for current or future products, including writing, editing, producing, and maintaining on-line (internet/web-based) documentation
- Review published materials and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction and binding
- Assist in marketing projects by providing support in design, development and preparation of marketing materials for the internal sales team, clients, and prospective clients
- Interview production and engineering personnel and read journals and other material to become familiar with product technologies and production methods
- Edit, standardize, and make changes to material prepared by other writers or business personnel
- Assist in administering and supporting documentation software
- Work with direct supervisor to develop and improve existing department through planning and implementation
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Work requires a BA/BS in Journalism, English, Technical Communications, Computer Science or related field
Experience: Work requires a minimum of three years experience preferably in a technical field with
an emphasis on technical documentation
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Detail orientated
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to communicate professionally with people at all levels within the organization, along with external contacts

Job Summary: This position is a member of the Senior Management Team and responsibilities include but not limited to the leadership and direction of staff in the Engineering Department.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for department budget planning and compliance to planned budgets.
- Reports to head of Onsite Energy Application in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
- Oversees all development related projects, processes and performance reports, data and analysis.
- Supports sales to deliver competitive submittals in time.
- Reviews and analyzes proposals submitted to determine if benefits derived and possible applications justify expenditures.
- Delivers input to strategic planning and cooperates with LROP - Long Range Onsite Planning team in FN, Germany.
- Defines new product ideas is cooperation with LROP.
- Assists in the identification of new market technologies.
- Defines and implements development processes, project management procedures and other related department working procedures/policies in cooperation with the responsible departments in FN.
- Responsible for ensuring the department conforms to the company’s ERP procedures and maintenance as documented and for completion of work according to standard engineering principles and practices.
- Provides tools, rules, and guidelines for other departments at MTU onsite energy Mankato and distribution (e.g. engineering bulletins, test procedures).
- Cost reduction of current product portfolio, generating ideas and procedures for cost reduction.
- Selects, develops, trains and supervises Engineering staff.
- Conduct Performance Reviews.
- Manages and directs Engineering staff.
- Plans, assigns and directs work.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical or electrical engineering and 3 – 4 years experience in the field of power generation including management responsibilities.
Preferred: Master’s Degree in mechanical or electrical engineering and 5+ years related experience in the field of power generation including management responsibilities
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Deep knowledge about power generation systems based on diesel or gas engines.
- Knowledge about Diesel and Gas engines.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple projects and tasks.
- Ability to manage a department with more than 30 employees and 4 teams.
- Ability to interpret general procedures and speak fluent English.
- Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Computer Skills: AutoCAD LT, AutoCAD electrical, ProE WF, MS Office.
- Dependability, Versatility, Flexibility, and Team Work.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Willingness to world wide travelling.
